The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest known piece of literature in the world. Written in 2100 BCE it predates Homer’s Iliad by 1500 years. The epic is a rich literary text that explores themes of honour, glory and human mortality.

기원전 (BC) 2100년에 기록된 것(2020년 기준으로 4500년 이전)으로 조사되었고, Homer’s 호머의 ‘일리야드’ 보다도 약 1500년 앞선 책으로 알려져 있다.

책은 진흙 재질의 태블릿으로 고대의 이라크 지역에서 발견되었으며, 총 12 조각의 태블릿 형태로 영국 박물관에 보관 중이다.
